About the Author

Twelve years.  What takes twelve years? Well, publishing her novel took twelve years!

Sarah Bartlett's debut novel 'Meant to Be' was written back in 2009, back when VideoEzy and Blockbuster were the places to visit on a Friday afternoon, DVDS were still a 'thing' and a pandemic was something you read about in a textbook. Sarah wrote her novel while studying for her undergraduate degree in Primary Education at Wollongong University. She wrote her novel in her spare time between classes, saved it on a USB and then tucked it away for over a decade.

Sarah did revisit it from time to time, but always convinced herself no one would read her story so she would hide it away again. A few times, Sarah conjured enough courage to approach some literary agents and publishers, only to be turned down, more than once. But who doesn't love to hear about someone turning a failure into a success? If Walt Disney was fired for lacking creativity and Thomas Edison needed to try over 1000 times before finding success inventing the light bulb, why not keep on re-working your masterpiece until someone gives you a yes!

And that's what Sarah did.  Twelve years after writing her novel, 'Meant to Be' is now on bookshelves and online, available to be read by keen bibliophiles worldwide.

"I have always wanted to be an author, I guess I just never thought I could. I found the thought of people reading my written words extremely intimidating. But here we are! I am hoping that this will be the first of many books that I write and publish."
